You also have the option to turn on recently used items which can be very useful also if you open and close documents often.

Have you ever accidentally closed a file which was buried in your hard drive? With Recent Documents you have a quick way to reopen them without having to go find them again deep in your hard drive.

You can also use the recently used applications as a launcher. Few of us use more than 15 or 20 applications on a regular basis so by using the recent applications menu you can open any of the applications you have used recently with just a couple of clicks.

Unforunately there is no option to sort them other than alphabetically.
