The File Synchronization Control Panel is best used for keeping the files between a PowerBook and a desktop Mac or files used on a network.

You will see the following window when you open the control panel. Here you choose which folders you want to synchronize. First double-click on the left window and maneuver to a file or folder you would like to synchronize. Then double-click on the right window and maneuver to the corresponding file or folder that you would like to keep synchronized.

Once you choose the second file or folder, the arrow between the two windows becomes active and you can choose which direction to copy the changes.

If you choose to synchronize in both directions and both files or folders are changed, NO updates can be completed. A serious problem for networks!!!!!

When you choose "scan" you will see what files will be updated and when they last were synchronized.

There are some concerns you need to be aware of.... File Synchronization may give you out of memory errors. Be sure that the number of files in any folders you synchronize is small and that you don't use custom icons. Not to mention the time this takes to accomplish.
